One of the key doctrines in much of Armstrongism has historically been a huge source of criticism - and rightfully so. People with a WCG-background will remember that it was a belief that you should trust God more than medicine. That belief cost hundreds of families their loved ones, and is a tragic chapter in the history of Armstrongism.
Some still hold on to these beliefs, and that is so tragic. 👎
For some, it's almost like stopping the clock at a certain point, and then going all-out Amish on NEVER changing anything for the rest of their lives. [No offense intended towards the Amish people. They do what they consider to be the right thing, and even electricity is viewed as something evil. We can only smile at the idea, as we know it is also a source of great resources such as refrigerators etc. 😄]
That is a very popular position, especially if you don't like to learn new things...
It is, sadly, also the source of incredible mind-control. As I elaborated on the general tendency of polarization in societies on my political blog about the recent US elections, so it is a key to mind-control to declare the internet as something evil, as the PCG tried to do some years ago. No one wondered why they would have a website, and that is just another sign that things are taken at face value by a drowsy audience that will do anything once it has the stamp of 'ministerial advice' as approval criteria.
Similarly at least two organizations have promoted the idea of election fraud, namely the PCG and the GTA-EA led by Gerald Flurry and Mark Armstrong respectively. News is obviously easy to 'understand' when the ministry hold the key to all understanding. If any member comes with a dissenting opinion, picked up online, he is bound to be excommunicated. The Armstrong recipe for total mind control...
You MUST be careful when people are involved in such a cult. You should read old articles on this blog, and visit sites linked to from this blog if you want to help family members or friends come out of that mindset.
Be mindful that it takes time, as moving on can be difficult for people involved in such organizations. You are welcome to write a comment if you need advice to help others come out from this type of thinking beyond what I have already written. It might inspire for more articles in the years ahead, and your participation is very much appreciated.
Seasonal greetings to all, no matter what festive occasions you celebrate and enjoy and best wishes for the coming year 2021 in anticipation of getting past this pandemic when a vaccine is introduced.
