Gerald Flurry, so-called Pastor General of the Philadelphia Church of God, has long ago decreed that January 16th is a special date. It was the day Herbie died in 1986, now 34 years ago - and he will insist that anything that happens today is historic...
It is quite easy to read things INTO events. Armstrongites have done so for decades. :-)
Imagine the irony if NOTHING happened today. If nothing happens except for snow in regions with winter, and sun in regions with summer in their calendars...
That would be the ultimate form of irony.
Of course, people still caught up in Armstrongism thinking will call this mocking. They are taught to do so, because all independent thinking is forbidden once you step from independent reader into member.
The idea of 'proving all things as the Bereans' is shunned once you are a member, especially if you find anything that contradicts the words of wisdom, which - by definition - can only come from the ministry as long as you are in the cults based on Herbert Armstrong teachings.
Set yourself free. Today is just another day in your calendar...
Have a nice day.
