United Church of God - Hoping for Christ

The United Church of God has created an article entitled "Seven Prophecies That Must Be Fulfilled Before Jesus Christ's Return".

Notice the cautious way in which they answer the question of whether that return draws near:

Will this generation see God's Kingdom established on earth?
We have seen how seven biblically prophesied circumstances could not have come to pass until recent times. In fact, the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948 was clearly a major turning point in the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, as was the acquisition of the hydrogen bomb by the two superpowers of the 1950s that led to the period of mutually assured destruction.
All has now become possible. This, in turn, makes it much more likely that our generation will live to see Jesus Christ return and establish the Kingdom of God on earth. After all, Jesus Himself said that once these things begin, the generation alive at that time "will by no means pass away till all these things take place" (Matthew:24:34).
It's both sobering and encouraging to think that we appear to be living in the generation that will ultimately witness the most important event in the history of mankind. As Jesus Christ tells His followers in Luke:21:28, "Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."

This is the type of double-speak you will find in Armstrongism and its offshoots. Careful examination of each of the offshoots will show that this is the type of article released for the public to APPEAR balanced, but that date-setting is still a part in individual speculation. They just won't say it aloud. Stay tuned for more on this subject.

  1. Well Henrik, isn't that just special. I sat in the Community Center in the afternoon on Pentecost listening to the sermon by a Regional Pastor of the CoGWA from a faraway place across the country, where his introductory remarks (just after the comments about putting together "Governance") were about how important it was to get out the Gospel of The United States and British Commonwealth in Prophecy. I did not realize until your post here, he was quoting directly from United. In fact, last week, Living had a telecast on network TV about the same topic, saying the very same things. The wagons are circling. They troops are getting ready for a raid.

Only thing is, it's not a raid. It's all out war. DNArefutesBI.com proves once and for all that British Israelism is a fraud, but no one has seen the latest version yet, what with its booklets like "Misery of the Ages" and "The Calendar Conundrum" with "The Plaint Truth" and "The Goof News". We have six major ways to disprove British Israelism, not the least of which is all that wondrous False Prophecy.

Oh, yes, the Armstrongists have bragging rights that Germany would rise again. They also claim vaguely that the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 was some how predicted by them. Watch the wording VERY carefully because the truth is that Herbert Armstrong prophesied as the Great False Prophet of the 20th Century that the United States and Britain would lose World War II, back there in 1943. Oopsy! They don't mention that!

Furthermore, they don't seem to have a good grasp on the Bible (not that they seem to believe one word of it -- it's just useful as a discussion point so they can lie to people and then take their money for their own salaries and retirement).

Biblical Scholars -- which they are not -- will note the Book of Hosea and Revelation. There are two lost tribes between Exodus and Revelation: They are Dan and Ephraim. Apparently God is none to happy with Ephraim and Ephraim is to disappear from the earth forever. Talk about lost.

So it is, talking of the Great Empire of the tribe of Ephraim is about the most irrelevant thing ever, especially when you consider that British Israelism is a total fraud and the 10 tribes never got lost. There are 6 of the tribes of Israel mentioned in the New Testament. Can you tell me which ones? Anyway, 12 - 6 = 10 is just bad math! The Armstrongists are terrible at math. I guess they hope that people won't notice. It would ruin all their pretty little lies.

So here it is: What will the members do? Where will they go when they finally realize that British Israelism is a fraud and their supposed and fabricated church history is also a fraud? There's nothing much left except what they had when Herbert Armstrong rebelled against the CoG7D and invented his heresies. What will happen when they realize they are in a vacuous vicious abusive cult? How do they deal with throwing their money down the drain for nothing for decades?

My prediction? Nothing at all. It is more convenient for the obsessed to hold on to their lies than to admit the truth and clean up their act.

  2. Yes, over 50 years ago, it was predicted that Germany would reunite.

By the same people who said that Hitler was still alive.

  3. I just tried to go to DNArefutesBI.com and some lawyer has the site on hold and trying to shut it down....so I get nothing there...can someone provide a good link or site where I can get information to prove to some on ucg blog that anglo israelism is false? Also, any hints on how to talk to these people...most just won't accept anything that refutes Armstrongisms at all. How to get thru to some of them. it's difficult. what's best?
